English:

Once upon a time, there was a hardworking salt merchant.

He had a lazy donkey who helped him carry sacks of salt.

Every day, they walked to the market to sell the salt.

Translation:

Bazaar jatay huay, tajir aur gadha hamesha darya paar kartay thay.

Wahan woh aaraam karnay aur paani peenay ke liye rukte thay.

Darya pursukoon tha, aur thanda paani tajir aur gadhe ko bohat acha lagta tha.

English:

On their way to the market, the merchant and the donkey always cross the river.

They stopped there to rest and drink water.

The river was calm, and the cool water felt nice for the merchant and the donkey.

Translation:

Ek din gadha ek pathar se thokar kha kar darya mein gir gaya.

Tajir foran us ki madad ko daura, kyun ke usay fikr thi ke gadha zakhmi na ho gaya ho.

Khush qismati se, gadhe ko sirf chand kharaashen aayeen.

English:

One day, the donkey tripped over a stone and fell into the river.

The merchant rushed to help him, worried that the donkey was hurt.

Luckily, the donkey only had a few scratches.

Translation:

Darya mein girnay ke baad, gadhe ne dekha ke namak paani mein jaldi ghul gaya.

Gadha is baat par bohat khush hua!

English:

After falling into the river, the donkey noticed the salt dissolving quickly in the water.

This made the load on his back feel much lighter.

The donkey was very happy about this!
