தேவதை மீண்டும் ஆற்றுக்குள் கையை விட்டு, ஒரு பளபளப்பான தங்கக் கோடாரியை வெளியே எடுத்தாள்.

அவள் கேட்டாள், “இது உன்னுடைய கோடாரியா?”

மரம் வெட்டுபவன் தலையை ஆட்டி, “இல்லை, அது என்னுடையது இல்லை” என்று சொன்னான்.

Translation:

Thaevathai meendum aatrukul kaiyai vittu, oru palapalappaana thanga kodaariyai veliyae eduthaal.

Aval kaettaal, "Ithu unnudaiya kodaariyaa?

Maram vettubavan thalaiyai aatti, "Illai, athu ennudaiyathu illai" endru sonnaan.

English:

The fairy reached into the river again and took out a shiny golden axe.

She asked, “Is this your axe?”

மரம் வெட்டுபவன் வெள்ளி மற்றும் தங்கக் கோடாரிகள் இரண்டையும் மறுத்தான்.

அவள் மரம் வெட்டுபவனுக்கு அவனுடைய தொலைந்த கோடாரியைக் காட்டினாள்.

அவள் கேட்டாள், “இது உன்னுடைய கோடாரியா?”

தேவதை கொண்டு வந்த கோடாரியைப் பார்த்ததும் மரம் வெட்டுபவன் மிகுந்த மகிழ்ச்சி அடைந்தான்.

“ஆம்!” என்று மரம் வெட்டுபவன் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் கூவினான். “அது என்னுடையது!”

அவன் தான் தொலைத்த கோடாரி அதுதான் என்று அவளிடம் சொன்னான்.

Translation:

Thaevathai kondu vantha kodaariyaip paarththathum maram vettubavan miguntha magizhchi adainthaan.

Aam! endru maram vettubavan magizhchiyudan koovinaan. "Athu ennudaiyathu!

Avan thaan tholaiththa kodaari athuthaan endru avalitam sonnaan.

English:

The woodcutter felt overjoyed when he saw the axe the fairy brought.

“Yes!” the woodcutter exclaimed with joy. “That’s mine!”

He told her it was the one he had lost.
