A village with many goats

முன்பு ஒரு காலத்தில், ஆடுகள் ஒரு அழகான சிறிய கிராமத்தில் வாழ்ந்தன.

அந்தக் கிராமத்தில் பச்சை வயல்களும், தெளிவாக ஓடும் ஒரு நதியும் இருந்தன.

ஒரு சிறிய மரப்பாலம் அந்த நதிக்குக் குறுக்கே இருந்தது.

Translation:

Munpu oru kaalaththil, aadugal oru azhagaana siriya kiraamaththil vaazhndhana.

Andhak kiraamaththil pachchai vayalkalum, thelivaaga oadum oru nadhiyum irundhana.

Oru siriya marappaalam andha nadhikkuk kurukkae irundhadhu.

English:

Once upon a time, goats lived in a pretty little village.

The village had green fields and a clear, flowing river.

A small wooden bridge crossed the river.

அது கவனமாக, அடிமேல் அடி வைத்து நடக்கத் தொடங்கியது.

திடீரென்று, அது மற்றொரு ஆடு மறுபக்கத்திலிருந்து வருவதைப் பார்த்தது.

Translation:

Oru naal, oar aadu andha marappaalaththaik kadakka virumbiyadhu.

Adhu kavanamaga, adimael adi vaiththu nadakkath thodangiyadhu.

Thideerendru, adhu matroru aadu marupakkaththilirundhu varuvadhaip paarththadhu.

English:

One day, a goat wanted to cross the wooden bridge.

He started walking carefully, step by step.

Suddenly, he saw another goat coming from the other side.

அடுத்து என்ன செய்வதென்று அவை யோசித்தன.

Translation:

Irandu aadugalum kurugiya paalaththin naduvil nindrana.

Mudhal aadu irandaavadhu aattaip paarththadhu.

Aduththu enna seyvadhendru avai yoasiththana.

English:

Both goats stopped in the middle of the narrow bridge.

The first goat looked at the second goat.

A goat telling something to the other goat

முதல் ஆடு, "நீ பின்னால் போ! நான் கடக்க வேண்டும்!" என்றது.

இரண்டாவது ஆடு, "இல்லை, நீ நகரு! நான் வெகுதூரம் வந்துவிட்டேன்" என்று பதிலளித்தது.

இரண்டும் மற்றொன்றுக்கு வழிவிட மறுத்தன.

Translation:

Mudhal aadu, "Nee pinnaal poa! Naan kadakka vendum!" endradhu.

Irandaavadhu aadu, "Illai, nee nagaru! Naan vegudhooram vandhuvittaen" endru badhilaliththadhu.

Irandum matrondrukku vazhivida maruththana.

English:

The first goat said, "You go back so I can cross!

The second goat said, "No, you move! I came a long way".

Both refused to let the other pass.
