गाढवाला फरक लक्षात आला नाही.

Translation:

Dusaryā sakāḷī, vyāpāryāne gāḍhavālā mīṭhāevajī kāpusāche pote ōḍhalē.

Gāḍhavālā pharak lakṣāt ālā nāhī.

Te nehāmīpramāṇē tyāñchā pravās surū ṭhevle.

English:

The next morning, the merchant loaded the donkey with sacks of cotton instead of salt.

The donkey didn’t notice the difference.

They began their journey as usual.

जेव्हा ते नदीजवळ पोहोचले, गाढवाने परत एकदा तोळमीने पाय घसरला आणि पडल्यासारखे वागले.

त्याला वाटले की त्याची युक्ती आधीप्रमाणेच काम करेल.

पण यावेळी काही अनपेक्षित घडले!

Translation:

Jēvhā te nadījaval pohōchalē, gāḍhavāne parat ekadā toḷamīne pāy gharasalā āṇi paḍalyāsārakhē vāgalē.

Tyālā vāṭlē kī tyācī yukti ādhīpramāṇēch kām karēl.

Paṇ yāvēḷī kāhī anapēkṣit ghaḍalē!

English:

When they got to the river, the donkey pretended that he had slipped and fallen again.

He thought his trick would work just like before.

This time, however, something unexpected happened!

ओझं हलकं होण्याऐवजी खूप जड झालं होतं.

गाढवाला चालण्यासाठी त्रास झाला.

Translation:

Gāḍhav ubhā rāhilā tēvhā kāpusāchā potyāvar pāṇī shirlē hōtē.

Ōjha halak hōṇyāevajī khūp jaḍ jhālō hōtā.

Gāḍhavālā chālasāṭhī trās jhālā.

English:

When the donkey stood up, the cotton sacks were soaked with water.

Instead of getting lighter, the load became much heavier.

The donkey struggled to walk.

Translation:

Gāḍhavālā kaḷalē kī tyācī yojanā ulaṭ jhālī āhe.

To āḷashī asalyābaddal āṇi vyāpāryālā phasavlyābaddal vāīṭ vāṭū lāgalē.

Tyālā māhit hōtē kī tyāne mōṭhī chūk kelī āhe.

English:

The donkey realized his plan had backfired.

He felt bad for being lazy and tricking the merchant.

He knew he had made a big mistake.
