एकेकाळी एक मेहनती मिठाई व्यापारी होता.

त्याचा एक आळशी जावई होता आणि त्याचा गोड नातू वहन्यत त्याला मदत करायचा.

दररोज असत बाजारात मिठाई विकायला जातो.

Translation:

Ēkēkāḷī ēka mēhanatī miṭhā’ī vyāpārī hōtā.

Tyācā ēka āḷaśī jāva’ī hōtā āṇi tyācā gōḍa nātū vahan’yata tyālā madata karāyacā.

Dararōja asata bājārāta miṭhā’ī vikāyalā jātō.

English:

Once upon a time, there was a hardworking salt merchant.

He had a lazy donkey who helped him carry sacks of salt.

Every day, they walked to the market to sell the salt.

The merchant is drinking water while the donkey is resting

बाजारपेठेच्या वाटेवर व्यापारी व गाढव नेहमी नदी ओलांडत आसत.

तिथे थंबूनने विश्रांती घेतली आणि पाणी प्यायले.

नदी शांत असायची आणि थंड पाण्यात व्यापारी आणि व्यापाऱ्याला बरे वाटायचे.

Translation:

Bājārapēṭhēcyā vāṭēvara vyāpārī va gāḍhava nēhamī nadī ōlāṇḍata āsata.

Tithē thambūnanē viśrāntī ghētalī āṇi pāṇī pyāyalē.

Nadī śānta asāyacī āṇi thaṇḍa pāṇyāta vyāpārī āṇi vyāpāṟyālā barē vāṭāyacē.

English:

On their way to the market, the merchant and the donkey always cross the river.

They stopped there to rest and drink water.

The river was calm, and the cool water felt nice for the merchant and the donkey.

Donkey tripped and fell into the water

एके दिवशी गाढव एका दगडावर अडकलो आणि नदीत पडला.

तो व्यापारी त्याला मदत करायला धावला, कारण त्याला त्या गरीब माणसाची काळजी नव्हती.

सुदैवन, गढवाला हे काही मोजकेच मारले गेले.

Translation:

Ēkē divaśī gāḍhava ēkā dagaḍāvara aḍakalō āṇi nadīta paḍalā.

Tō vyāpārī tyālā madata karāyalā dhāvalā, kāraṇa tyālā tyā garība māṇasācī kāḷajī navhatī.

Sudaivana, gaḍhavālā hē kāhī mōjakēca māralē gēlē.

English:

One day, the donkey tripped over a stone and fell into the river.

The merchant rushed to help him, worried that the donkey was hurt.

Luckily, the donkey only had a few scratches.

नदी ओलांडल्यानंतर, आम्हाला लक्षात आले की गोड गढूळ पाण्यात लवकर विरघळते.

यामुळे त्याच्या विद्यार्थ्यांवरील ओझे खूप हलके वाटू लागले.

गढव खूप आनंदी झाला!

Translation:

Nadī ōlāṇḍalyānantara, āmhālā lakṣāta ālē kī gōḍa gaḍhūḷa pāṇyāta lavakara viraghaḷatē.

Yāmuḷē tyācyā vidyārthyānvarīla ōjhē khūpa halakē vāṭū lāgalē.

Gaḍhava khūpa ānandī jhālā!

English:

After falling into the river, the donkey noticed the salt dissolving quickly in the water.

This made the load on his back feel much lighter.

The donkey was very happy about this!
