ಮೊಸಳೆ ಕೋತಿಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಮರಕ್ಕೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಲು ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡನು.

ಅವನು ಕೋತಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಮೋಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆಂದು ತಿಳಿಯಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ಮೊಸಳೆ ಕೋತಿಯನ್ನು ಬೆನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೊತ್ತು ನದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈಜಿತು.

Translation:

Mosale kōtiyanun kēḷi marakke hintirugalu oppikoṇḍanu.

Avanu kōti avanannu mōsa māḍuttidde endu tiḷiyalilla.

Mosale kōtinantha benna mele hottu nadiyalli ījitu.

English:

The crocodile listened to the monkey and agreed to go back to the tree.

He didn’t know the monkey was tricking him.

The crocodile swam back with the monkey on its back.

Monkey hopping onto the riverbank

ಅವರು ಮರಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾಗ, ಕೋತಿ ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತವಾಗಿ ಹಾರಿತು.

ಅವನು ಮೊಸಳೆಯನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ನಗಿದರು.

ಮರೇ, ಕೋತಿಗಳು ತಮ್ಮ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ದೇಹದ ಹೊರಗೆ ಹೊತ್ತೊಯ್ಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿತು.

Translation:

Avaru marakke bandāga, kōti surakṣitavāgi hāritu.

Avanu mosaleyannu nōḍi nagidanu.

Munde heḷitu, kōtigaḷu tanna hṛdayavantha dehada bāhiradalli hottoliyuvudilla endu.

English:

When they reached the tree, the monkey leaped to safety.

He laughed at the crocodile.

Then he explained that monkeys don’t carry their hearts outside their bodies.

ಮೊಸಳೆ ಅಷ್ಟೊಂದು ಬೇಸರವಾಗಿ ಮತ್ತು ಲಜ್ಜೆಯಿಂದ ಭಾವಿಸಿತು.

ಅವನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡನು ಕೋತಿಗೆ ಮೋಸ ಆಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು.

ಕೋತಿಯ ಚತುರತೆಯಿಂದ ಅವನು ಮೋಸಗೆಳೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟನು.

Translation:

Mosale ashtu beśaravāgi mattu lajje-yinda bhāvisitu.

Avanu tiḷidanu kōtige mōsa āgide endu.

Kōtiya chaturateyiṁda avanu mōsagoḷisida.

English:

The crocodile felt embarrassed and ashamed.

He realized that the monkey had tricked him.

He had been fooled by the monkey’s cleverness.

The embarrassed crocodile returning to its home

ಕೋತಿ ಮೊಸಳಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿತು ಹೋಗಿ, ಮತ್ತೆ ಬಾರದಿರಲು.

ಅವನು ಹೇಳಿದನು, ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರು ಒಬ್ಬರನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರು ನೋವು ಕೊಡುವುದು ಸರಿಯಲ್ಲ.

ಮೊಸಳೆ ತನ್ನ ತಪ್ಪಿಗೆ ಲಜ್ಜೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿ ಈಜಿತು.

Translation:

Kōti mosaleyige heḷitu hōgi matte bāradiralu.

Avanu heḷidanu, snēhitru obbarannobbaru nōvu koḍuvudu sariyalla.

Mosale tanna tappige lajje-yondige dūralli ījitu.

English:

The monkey told the crocodile to leave and never return.

He said that friends shouldn’t hurt each other.

The crocodile swam away, feeling ashamed of his actions.
