ಮೊಸಳೆ ಕೋತಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದನು, ಅವನ ಪತ್ನಿಗೆ ಕೋತಿಯ ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಹಣ್ಣುಗಳು ತುಂಬಾ ಇಷ್ಟ.

ಅವನು ಕೋತಿಯನ್ನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಭೇಟಿಯಾಗಲು ಕರೆಸಿದನು.

ಕೋತಿ ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ ಹೋದನು.

Translation:

Mosale kōtige heḷidanu, avana patni kōti koṭṭa hannugaḷannu bahu iṣṭappaduttāre endu.

Avanu kōtinantha avarannu bēṭi māḍalu kareyitu.

Kōti santōṣadinda hogenū.

English:

The crocodile told the monkey that his wife loved the fruits given by the monkey very much.

He then invited the monkey to visit them.

The monkey was happy and agreed to go with the crocodile.

Action: ಕೋತಿ ಮೊಸಳೆಯ ಬೆನ್ನು ಮೇಲೆ ಕುಳಿತಿತ್ತು.

ಕೋತಿ ಮೊಸಳೆಯ ಬೆನ್ನು ಮೇಲೆ ಕುಳಿತು, ನದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು, ಕೋತಿಗೆ ಭಯವಾಯಿತು.

ಅವನು ಮೊಸಳೆಗೆ ಕೇಳಿದನು, ಏಕೆ ತುಂಬಾ ಆಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು.

ಮೊಸಳೆ ತಕ್ಷಣ ಉತ್ತರಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ.

Translation:

Kōti mosaleyu benna mēle kuḷitu, nadiyalli āḷakke hoguttiddāga, kōtige bhaya āyitu.

Avanu mosaleyige kelidanu, ēke tumba āḷakke hoguttiddīri endu.

Mosale takkaṭa uttara koḷḷalilla.

English:

The Monkey sat on the Crocodile’s back, and as they went deeper into the river, the monkey started to feel scared.

He asked the crocodile why they were going so deep.

The crocodile didn’t answer right away.

Action: ಕೋತಿ ಮೊಸಳೆಯ ಬೆನ್ನು ಮೇಲೆ ಕುಳಿತಿದ್ದು, ಶಾಂತವಾಗಿ ಯೋಚಿಸುತ್ತಿತ್ತು.

ಮೊಸಳೆ ನಗುತ್ತಾ ತನ್ನ ಗುಪ್ತ ಯೋಜನೆ ಕೋತಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದನು.

ಅವನ ಪತ್ನಿಗೆ ಕೋತಿಯ ಹೃದಯ ಬೇಕು ಎಂದು.

ಕೋತಿ ಭಯಪಟ್ಟ, ಆದರೆ ಶಾಂತನಾಗಿ ಉಳಿದನು.

Translation:

Mosale naguttā tanna gupta yōjaneyantha kōtige heḷidanu.

Avana patni kōtiya hṛdaya bēkagide endu heḷidanu.

Kōti bhayapaṭṭu, ādarū śāntanāgi iddanu.

English:

The crocodile smiled and told the monkey his secret plan.

He said his wife wanted the monkey’s heart.

The monkey was scared but stayed calm.

Action: ಕೋತಿ ಮೊಸಳೆಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಮರದಲ್ಲಿ ಮರೆತು ಹೋದ ಹೃದಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿತ್ತು.

ಕೋತಿ ತ್ವರಿತವಾಗಿ ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಲು ಯೋಚಿಸಿದನು.

ಅವನು ಮೊಸಳೆಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದನು, ಅವನ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ ತನ್ನ ಪತ್ನಿಗೆ ಕೊಡಲು ಬಯಸುತ್ತಾನೆ.

ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ಮರದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟುಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

Translation:

Kōti tvaritavāgi tanna jīvanavannu rakṣisalu yōcisitu.

Avanu mosaleyige heḷidanu, tanna hṛdayavantha santōṣadinda patnige koḍalu bayasuttene endu.

Ādarū avanu hṛdayavantha maradalli bāḷiside endu heḷidanu.

English:

The monkey thought quickly to save himself.

He told the crocodile that he would happily give his heart to the wife.

But he said he had forgotten his heart on the tree.
