Le loup mangea de la craie pour adoucir sa voix.

Puis il frappa à nouveau et dit : « Ouvrez, mes chers oisons. C’est votre mère ! »

Sa voix était maintenant douce.

The wolf ate some chalk to make his voice sound sweeter.

Les oisons regardèrent par la porte et virent ses pattes noires.

Ils dirent : « Tu n’es pas notre mère ! Tes pattes sont noires comme celles d’un loup ! »

Le loup grogna et repartit à ses projets.

The goslings peered through the door and saw his black paws.

Les oisons virent ses pattes blanches et le crurent.

Pensant que c’était leur mère, les oisons ouvrirent la porte.

Le loup fit irruption et les poursuivit.

Il avala six oisons tout crus, le ventre plein, et quitta les lieux.

Mais le plus jeune se cacha dans le boîtier d’une horloge.
