أعجب التمساح بهذا، وكان ينتظر القرد ليشاركه.

أصبحا صديقين حميمين.

Translation:

Fī kulli marratin yaʾkulu fīhā al-qird al-fawākih, yatruku baʿḍahā lil-timsāḥ fī al-nahr.

Aʿjaba al-timsāḥ bihādhā, wa-kāna yantaẓiru al-qird liyushārikah.

Aṣbaḥā ṣadīqayn ḥamīmayn.

English:

Every time the monkey ate fruits, he left some for the crocodile in the river.

The crocodile liked this and waited for the monkey to share.

They became good friends.

سألت زوجها من أين حصل على هذه الفواكه اللذيذة.

Translation:

Fī yawm min al-ayyām, akhadh al-timsāḥ baʿḍ al-fawākih ilā zawjatih.

Tadhawwaqat-hā wa-fakkarat annahā ladhīdhah jiddan.

Sa’alat zawjahā min ayna ḥaṣala ʿalā hādhihi al-fawākih al-ladhīdhah.

English:

One day, the crocodile took some fruits to his wife.

She tasted them and thought they were very tasty.

She asked her husband where he found such delicious fruits.

تفاجأ التمساح لكنه وافق.

Fakkarat zawjat al-timsāḥ anna laḥm al-qird qad yakūn aṭyab min al-fawākih.

Qālat li-zawjihā innahā turīd qalb al-qird litashʿura bi-taḥassun.

Tafājaʾa al-timsāḥ lakinnahū wāfaqa.

English:

The crocodile’s wife thought the monkey might taste even better than the fruits.

She told her husband that she wanted the monkey’s heart to make her feel better.

The crocodile was surprised but agreed.

Arāda al-timsāḥ an yusāʿid zawjatah, lakinnahū lam yaʿrif kaifa.

Fakkara fī khuṭṭah likhidāʿ al-qird.

Qarrara an yaʾkhudh al-qird ilā al-nahr.

English:

The crocodile wanted to help his wife, but didn’t know how.

He came up with a plan to trick the monkey.

He decided to bring the monkey into the river.
