في قديم الزمان، كان هناك قرد يعيش على شجرة بجانب النهر.

كانت الشجرة منزله، وكان يحبها كثيرًا.

Translation:

Fī qadīm al-zamān, kāna hunāka qirdun yaʿīshu ʿalā shajarah bijānib al-nahr.

Kāna saʿīdan jiddan li’annahu kāna yastaṭīʿu akl al-fawākih wa-al-laʿib ṭawāla al-yawm.

Kānat al-shajarah manzilah, wa-kāna yuḥibbuhā kathīran.

English:

Once upon a time, a monkey lived on a tree by the river.

He was very happy because he could eat fruits and play all day.

The tree was his home, and he loved it.

Bil-qurbi min shajarat al-qird, kāna timsāḥ wa-zawjatuh yaʿīshān fī al-nahr.

Kānā yaqḍiyān ayyāmahumā fī al-sibāḥah wa-al-rāḥah fī al-mā'.

Kānā fuḍūliyyayn bishā’n al-qird wa-shajaratih.

English:

Near the monkey’s tree, a crocodile and his wife lived in the river.

They spent their days swimming and resting in the water.

They were curious about the monkey and his tree.

The monkey saw him and decided to help.

He offered the crocodile some delicious fruits from his tree.
