Ā dēvakan’ya veṇḍi lēdā baṅgāru goḍḍalini enduku tīsukōlēdō ani āścharyapōyindi.

Kaṭṭelu koṭṭēvāḍu tana jīvanōpādhi kōsaṁ kaṭṭelu narakaḍāniki goḍḍali avasaramani cheppāḍu.

Veṇḍi mariyu baṅgāru goḍḍali alā chēyalēka, tana pāta goḍḍalini en̄chukunnāḍu.

English:

The fairy wondered why he did not pick the silver or gold axe.

The woodcutter said he needed an axe to cut wood for his livelihood.

Silver and gold axes could not do that, so he chose his old one.

కట్టెలు కొట్టేవాడి నిజాయితీకి ఆ దేవకన్య ఆశ్చర్యపోయింది.

Kaṭṭelu koṭṭēvāḍi nijāyitīki ā dēvakan’ya āścharyapōyindi.

Āme atani pāta inupa goḍḍalini un̄chukōvacchani cheppindi.

Āme ataniki veṇḍi, baṅgāru goḍḍalini kūḍā bahumatigā icchindi.

English:

The fairy was amazed by the woodcutter’s truthfulness.

She told him he could keep his old iron axe.

She also gave him the silver and gold axes as a gift.

English:

The woodcutter thanked the fairy for her kindness.

Humility won him great honor.

He is so happy with fairy’s reward.

Atanu ippuḍu dhanavantuḍainappaṭikī, kaṣṭapaḍi panichēstūnē unnāḍu.

English:

The woodcutter was honest so, he got a big reward.

He went home carrying all three axes.

Even though he was now rich, he kept working hard.
