A village with many goats

एक बार की बात है, बकरियाँ एक छोटे से सुंदर गाँव में रहती थीं।

गाँव में हरे-भरे खेत और एक साफ़, बहती नदी थी।

एक छोटा लकड़ी का पुल नदी को पार करता था।

Translation:

Ek baar kee baat hai, bakariyaan ek chhote se sundar gaanv mein rahatee theen.

Gaanv mein hare-bhare khet aur ek saaf, bahatee nadee thee.

Ek chhota lakadee ka pul nadee ko paar karata tha.

English:

Once upon a time, goats lived in a pretty little village.

The village had green fields and a clear, flowing river.

A small wooden bridge crossed the river.

Translation:

Ek din, ek bakaree lakadee ke pul ko paar karana chaahatee thee.

Vah saavadhaanee se, kadam dar kadam chalane laga.

Achaanak, usane doosaree taraph se ek aur bakaree ko aate dekha.

English:

One day, a goat wanted to cross the wooden bridge.

He started walking carefully, step by step.

Suddenly, he saw another goat coming from the other side.

Pehli bakri ne doosri bakri ko dekha.

Ve sochne lage ki aage kya karna hai.

दोनों ने एक-दूसरे को रास्ता देने से इनकार कर दिया।

Translation:

Pehli bakri ne kaha, "Tum peeche jao taaki main paar kar sakoon!

Doosri bakri ne kaha, "Nahin, tum hato! Main bahut door se aayi hoon.

Dono ne ek-doosre ko raasta dene se inkaar kar diya.

English:

The first goat said, "You go back so I can cross!

The second goat said, "No, you move! I came a long way".

Both refused to let the other pass.
