अगले सुबह, व्यापारी ने गधे को नमक के बजाय रूई की बोरियाँ लदवा दीं।

गधे ने अंतर नहीं समझा।

वे अपने सफर की शुरुआत पहले की तरह ही करने लगे।

Translation:

Agle subah, vyapaari ne gadhe ko namak ke bajay ruyii ki boriyaan ladwa dee.

Gadhe ne antar nahi samjha.

Ve apne safar ki shuruaat pehle ki tarah hi karne lage.

English:

The next morning, the merchant loaded the donkey with sacks of cotton instead of salt.

The donkey didn’t notice the difference.

They began their journey as usual.

जब वे नदी के पास पहुँचे, गधे ने फिर से यह दिखाने का नाटक किया कि वह फिसलकर गिर गया।

उसे लगा कि उसका चाल फिर से पहले की तरह काम करेगा।

लेकिन इस बार, कुछ अप्रत्याशित हुआ!

Translation:

Jab ve nadi ke paas pahunchay, gadhe ne phir se yeh dikhane ka naatak kiya ki vah fisalkar gir gaya.

Use laga ki uska chaal phir se pehle ki tarah kaam karega.

Lekin is baar, kuch apratyashit hua!

English:

When they got to the river, the donkey pretended that he had slipped and fallen again.

He thought his trick would work just like before.

This time, however, something unexpected happened!

जब गधा उठा, तो रूई की बोरियाँ पानी से भीगी हुई थीं।

हल्का होने की बजाय, बोझ बहुत भारी हो गया।

गधा चलने में संघर्ष करने लगा।

Translation:

Jab gadha utha, to ruyii ki boriyaan paani se bheegi hui thi.

Halka hone ki bajay, bojh bahut bhaari ho gaya.

Gadha chalne mein sangharsh karne laga.

English:

When the donkey stood up, the cotton sacks were soaked with water.

Instead of getting lighter, the load became much heavier.

The donkey struggled to walk.

उसे आलसी बनने और व्यापारी को धोखा देने का अफसोस हुआ।

उसे पता चला कि उसने एक बड़ी गलती की थी।

Translation:

Gadhe ko ehsaas hua ki uski yojana ulti pad gayi thi.

Use aalsi banne aur vyaapaari ko dhokha dene ka afsos hua.

Use pata chala ki usne ek badi galti ki thi.

English:

The donkey realized his plan had backfired.

He felt bad for being lazy and tricking the merchant.

He knew he had made a big mistake.
