Example

Title: Measures of central tendency-Mean

Grade: 9-a Lesson: S1-L1

Explanation: The best way to understand statistics is by looking at some examples. Take turns and read each example for easy understanding.

Examples:

Find out the mean for the given observations 4,5,9,12,15

Step 1a

Sum of the observations

Explanation: Let us add all the observations

i.e, sum of the observations

\$4 + 5 + 9 + 12 + 15 = 45\$

Step 1b

Total number of observations

Explanation: Total number of observations i.e, 5 observations

Step 1c

\$ mean \$ = \$" The sum of the observations "/" total number of observations" \$

Explanation: sum of the observations = 45

Total number of observations = 5

Then \$ mean \$ = \$45/5 = 9\$
