Title: Geometry

Grade: Best-SAT3 Lesson: S3-P2

Explanation: Hello students, let us learn a new topic in SAT-3 today with definitions, concepts, examples, and worksheets included.

Lesson:

Definition: Area of 2D shapes

  • The area of a 2D shape is a measure of the amount of space inside the shape.

  • It is typically measured in square units (such as square meters, square centimeters, etc.).

  • The shapes known as two-dimensional (2D) shapes, or flat shapes, have only two dimensions.

  • The area of shapes such as circles, triangles, squares, rectangles, parallelograms, etc., represents the region they occupy in space.

Definition: Area of 3D shapes

  • The surface area of a solid object is a measure of the total area that the surface of the object occupies.

  • A shape that takes up an area of three square meters would have the same total area as three squares with the same size.

Definition: Volume of 3D shapes

  • Volume is defined as the space occupied within the boundaries of an object in three-dimensional space. It is also known as the capacity of the object.

  • Since different three-dimensional objects have different shapes, their volumes are also variable. Let us look at some three-dimensional shapes and learn how to calculate their volume(V).

Definition: Angles

  • An angle is a geometric figure formed by two rays, called the sides of the angle, sharing a common endpoint, known as the vertex of the angle.

  • Angles are measured in degrees or radians, which quantify the amount of rotation from one ray to the other around their common vertex.

  • The size of an angle is typically measured in degrees (°) or radians (rad). One complete revolution is 360 degrees or 2π radians.

4

.

Explanation: An acute angle measures less than 90° at the vertex. An obtuse angle is between 90° and 180°. A right angle precisely measures 90° at the vertex. An angle measuring exactly 180° is a straight angle. A reflex angle measures between 180°- 360°. A complete angle measure equals 360°.
