Title: Multiplications

Grade: 2-a Lesson: S3-L5

Explanation: The best way to understand multiplications is by looking at some examples. Take turns and read each example for easy understanding.

Examples:

Step: 1a

Find the product of 18 x 6

Arrange the numbers is vertically.

1a

.

Explanation: Arrange the numbers in multiplication form.

Step: 1b

  • First multiply the digit at the ones place by 6.

  • 6 × 8 = 48 = 4 tens + 8 ones

Write 8 in the ones column and carry over 4 to the tens column.

1b

.

Explanation: Multiplication from the extreme right and then work our way to the left. Now, 8 times 6 gives us 48.
we will regroup 48 as 4 tens and 8 ones. So, the 8 stays down in the ones place while the 4 is carried over to the top in the tens place.

Step: 1c

  • Now multiply the digit at the tens place by 6.

  • 1 × 6 = 6 tens

  • Now, 4 + 6 (carry over) = 10 tens.

Thus 18 x 6 = 108.

1c

.

Explanation: Now, we move to the next column of tens and multiply 1 by 6 in the tens place. 1 times 6 gives us 6 tens, and along with that, we will add the 4 tens on the top. That gives us 10 tens.

Hence, 18 x 6 = 108.
