Title: Division

Grade: 4-a Lesson: S4-L1

Explanation: The best way to understand divisions is by looking at some examples. Take turns and read each example for easy understanding.

Examples:

Divide 828 ÷ 9

Step 1a

Divide 828 ÷ 9

Draw the division symbol and write divisor 9 is on left side and dividend 828 enclosed under this symbol.

1a

.

Explanation: Arrange the numbers in division form.

Step 1b

We have to take the second digit value also because 8 < 9 now the value is 82.

1b

.

Explanation: 82 is not divisible by 9 but since we know that \$9 times 9 = 81\$. we go for it subtract 82 - 81 = 1. write the 9 in first quotient.

Step 1c

Bring down the next value 8. Here the value is 18.

1c

.

Explanation: 18 is divisible by 9 since,we know that \$2 times 9 = 18\$. we go for it subtract 18 - 18 = 0 and write 2 in second quotient.

Step 1d

Therefore the quotient = 92 and the remainder is 0.

1d

.

Explanation: So quotient = 92 , remainder is 0.
