Title: Division

Grade: 4-a Lesson: S3-L4

Explanation: The best way to understand divisions is by looking at some examples. Take turns and read each example for easy understanding.

Examples:

Divide 758 ÷ 8

Step 1a

Divide 758 ÷ 8

Draw the division symbol and write divisor 8 is on left side and dividend 758 enclosed under this symbol.

1a

.

Explanation: Arrange the numbers in division form.

Step 1b

We have to take the second digit value also because 7 < 8 now the value is 75.

1b

.

Explanation: 75 is not divisible by 8 but since, we know that \$9 times 8 = 72\$. we go for it subtract 75 - 72 = 3. write the 9 in first quotient.

Step 1c

Bring down the next value 8. Here the value is 38.

1c

.

Explanation: 38 is not divisible by 8 but since, we know that \$4 times 8 = 32\$. we go for it subtract 38 - 32 = 6 and write 4 in second quotient.

Step 1d

Therefore the quotient = 94 and the remainder is 6.

1d

.

Explanation: So quotient = 94 , remainder is 6.
