Definition: Division

The process of dividing a collection of items into equal parts is denoted by the symbols / or ÷. The number to be divided is called the Dividend.

The number doing the division is the Divisor. The result of the division is known as the Quotient.

Formula: Division

Dividend = (Divisor × Quotient) + Remainder.

Quotient: The quotient is a result obtained in the division process.
Remainder: Sometimes, we cannot divide things exactly. There may be a leftover number.
