Title: Subtract the expressions

Grade: 7-a Lesson: S3-L3

Explanation: The best way to understand algebra is by looking at some examples. Take turns and read each example for easy understanding.

Examples:

1. Find the differnce between the algebraic expressions \$(6i - 3l + 3g) and (3i + g)\$ .

Step 1a

Given expression.

Explanation: Given expression \$(6i - 3l + 3g) - (3i + g)\$ is an algebraic expression in variables i, l and g.

Step 1b

Perform operations

Explanation: Subtract the like terms.

\$=> (6i - 3l + 3g) - (3i + g)\$

\$=> 6i - 3l + 3g - 3i - g)\$

\$=> (6 - 3)i - 3l + (3 - 1)g \$

\$=> 3i - 3l + 2g \$
