Title: Determine the value of algebraic expression

Grade: 7-a Lesson: S2-L7

Explanation: The best way to understand algebra is by looking at some examples. Take turns and read each example for easy understanding.

Examples:

1. Determine the value of expression \$9n + 9sqrt(n^2)\$ when n = 10.

Step 1a

Given expression.

Explanation: Given expression \$9n + 9sqrt(n^2)\$ is an algebraic expression in variable n and value of n = 10.

Step 1b

Substitute the value of variable

Explanation: Substitute the value of variable n = 10 in the expression.

\$9n + 9sqrt(n^2)\$

\$=> 9(10) + 9sqrt(10^2)\$

Step 1c

Perform the opreartions among the terms to determine the value of expression.

Explanation: Perform operations among the terms

\$=> 90 + 9sqrt(100)\$

\$=> 90 + 9(10) \$

\$=> 90 + 90 \$

\$=> 180 \$
