Example

Title: Find the variable value in the equation

Grade: 7-a Lesson: S1-L4

Explanation: The best way to understand algebra is by looking at some examples. Take turns and read each example for easy understanding.

Examples:

1. Find the value of 'n' in \$6n + 1 = 2n + 37\$.

Step 1a

Given equation is that, \$6n + 1 = 2n + 37\$.

Explanation: Given equation is that, \$6n + 1 = 2n + 37\$.

It is a linear equation with one variable in "n".

Step 1b

Move the like terms to one side.

Explanation: Move the like terms to one side of the equation and perform operations among them.

i.e, move constant terms to one side.

\$6n + 1 = 2n + 37\$
⇒ \$6n - 2n = 37 - 1\$
⇒ \$4n = 36\$

Step 1c

Now, solve for "n"

Explanation: Divide both sides of the equation with 4.

⇒ \$4n = 36\$

⇒ \$(4n)/4 = 36/4\$

⇒ \$((cancel4^1)n)/cancel4^1 = cancel36^9/cancel4^1\$

⇒ \$(n)/1 = 9/1\$

⇒ \$n = 9\$
