Example

Title: Exponents and Powers

Grade: 6-a Lesson: S3-L7

Explanation: The best way to understand algebra is by looking at some examples. Take turns and read each example for easy understanding.

Examples:

1. Find the value of b \$(12)^10 = (12)^(b − 3)\$.

Step 1a

Given.

Explanation: Given \$(12)^10 = (12)^(b − 3)\$ has same bases 12.

Step 1b

Solve for b

Explanation: If bases are equal then powers are also equal.

\$(12)^10 = (12)^(b − 3)\$

\$=> 10 = b - 3\$

\$=> b - 3 = 10\$

\$=> b = 10 + 3\$

\$=> b = 13\$
