Example

Title: Calculate the exponents

Grade: 6-a Lesson: S3-L2

Explanation: The best way to understand algebra is by looking at some examples. Take turns and read each example for easy understanding.

Examples:

1. Calculate the value of \$6^(-3)\$.

Step 1a

Given term.

Explanation: Given term is \$6^(-3)\$.

Step 1b

Perform operations and convert into lowest form.

Explanation: Use law of exponent \$a^(-n) = 1/a^n\$

\$6^(-3) = 1/6^3\$

Perform operation according to PEMDAS rule

Calculate the exponents

\$=> 1/6^3\$

\$=> 1/(6 times 6 times 6)\$

\$=> 1/216\$

\$6^(-3) = 1/216\$.
