Step 1a

Add 573 and 55

Write the numbers one below the other as per the places of the digits.

Add units place i.e.,3 + 5 = 8.Write 8 in the one’s column.

Explanation: Arrange the number according to their place values.
Start adding from the digits in ones place(3 + 5 = 8).
Now there is no carryover and we can directly write 8 in the one’s column.

Step 1b

Now add ten’s place.So,it will be 7 + 5 = 12.
Write 2 and carry 1 to the hundred’s place.

Explanation: Add the digits in the tens column i.e.,(7 + 5). Here the sum is 12.
The tens digit of the sum, that is, 1, will be carried to the hundreds place.

Step 1c

Add hundred’s place including carrying 1. So, it will be 5 + 1 = 6.
Now there is no carryover and we can directly write 6 in the hundredth’s column.

Therefore, the sum of 573 + 55 = 628.
