Add 987 and 45

Step 1a

Add 987 + 45

Arrange the numbers based on their place values.

Add the numbers starting from the ones place on the right, i.e. 7 + 5 = 12.

Explanation: Add the digits in the ones place (7 + 5 = 12). Write down 2 in the ones column and put 1 in a side.

Step 1b

Now we add the tens digit i.e., 8 + 4 + 1 = 13. Write down 3 in the tens column and carry 1 to the hundreds column.

Explanation: Add the digits in the tens place (8 + 4 + 1 = 13). Write down 3 in the tens column and put 1 in a side.

Step 1c

After this ,add the digits in hundreds column i.e., 1 + 9 = 10.

After adding both the columns we get, 987 + 45 = 1032

Explanation: Add the digits in hundreds column(1 + 9 = 5). Therefore the sum of 987 and 45 is 1032.
