Add 17 + 5

Add digits in ones place value or from the right.

Explanation: 7 , 5 are the ones place values i.e., 7 + 5 = 12. 12 is larger than ten so you have to regroup or carry. Place the 1 under the one’s place column and place the 1 above 1

Step 1b

Then add the tens place value.

Explanation: 1 is the tens place value, and 1 is the carry forward value. Add tens place value and carry forward value i.e., 1 + 1 = 2

Step 1c

Finally the sum of 17 + 5 will be 22.
