Steps Problem Solution

1

Solve the equation

\$ | 2x-19 | =4x+1 \$

2

Given equation

\$ | 2x-19 | =4x+1 \$

3

By using formula | x | =a i.e,x=a (or) x=-a we write

\$ 2x-19=4x+1 (or) 2x-19=-(4x+1)\$

4

After simplification we get

\$ 2x-19=4x+1 (or) 2x-19=-4x-1 \$

5

All "x" terms transvered left hand side and all constants transverd right hand side we get

\$ 2x-4x=1+19 (or) 2x+4x=-1+19 \$

6

After simplification we get

\$ -2x=20 (or) 6x=18 \$

7

Now x coeficients are transvered from left to right hand side of equation then we get

\$ x=20/-2 (or) x=18/6 \$

8

After cancellation we get

\$ x=-10 (or) x=3 \$

9

Hence the solution of the given equation is

\$ x= -10 (or) 3 \$
