Steps Problem Solution

1

Solve the equation

\$ 2 | x-3 | -5=7 \$

2

Given equation

\$ 2 | x-3 | -5=7 \$

3

Adding "+5" on both sides of the equation

\$ 2 | x-3 | -5+5=7+5 \$

4

After cancellation we get

\$ 2 | x-3 | =12 \$

5

Dividing on both sides by "2" we get

\$ 2 | x-3 | /2=12/2 \$

6

After cancellation we get

\$ | x-3 | =6 \$

7

By using formula | x | =a i.e,x=a (or) x=-a we write

\$ x-3=6 (or) x-3=-6 \$

8

Adding on both sides "+3" then we get

\$ x-3+3=6+3 (or) x-3+3=-6+3 \$

9

After simplification we get

\$ x=9 (or) x=-3 \$

10

Hence the solution of the given equation is

\$ x= -3 (or) 9 \$
